10/12/2011 Program Update
The Oakland Shines program kicked off in the beginning of 2011 with approximately $5 million to assist downtown Oakland businesses with energy efficiency upgrades to their facilities. To date, 548 businesses have participated in the program, collectively saving more than $720,000/year. This program has enabled business owners to install some of the most advanced lighting and HVAC technologies on the market while lowering their electricity bills.
Oakland Shines has successfully allocated all of the program’s incentive dollars to Oakland businesses. Additional incentives exist through a variety of PG&E programs. Currently, Oakland Shines will continue to offer free energy assessments for ALL Oakland businesses through the end of March 2012, when the program will end. Once conducted, a no-cost energy assessment presents participants with all major energy efficiency opportunities and participants are then connected with the appropriate incentive programs offered by PG&E.
Oakland Shines retrofits offer aggressive energy savings, significant rebates. Oakland North reports.
